Sore throat syndrome

Hey kids of 2012. When I started going to shows, I would leave the show with tons of these little show flyers. Local bands and kids that REALLY supported their favorite bands and venues would print out little pieces of paper with all the show info on them and pass them out to their friends and others at school, shows, the mall, and anywhere else other metal, punk, and hardcore kids were hanging out. It was a cool way to hear about new bands and to support the bands you loved.
I miss this. There is a sense of community in it. Meeting new people, telling them about how rad the show will be, and then seeing that person show up at the show. There was a sense of pride in that. The internet has made show promotion such a sterile and passionless task. A Facebook invite is made and the rest is forgotten. I am thankful for the internet and its broad marketing scope. I am thankful that there are kids in other parts of this country and the world that know about PLEA from Myspace and Facebook. I just miss the real life interactions that grew our subculture to what it is today.
I write this as a dare to you all. I dare you to print out this flyer posted above. Fill out the show info for the tour date in your town and print out some copies and pass them around. Make these shows sick. Show bands like Shai Hulud that you really love them and respect them.
Heck, I already made it black and white for you so the cost of prints is almost nothing. Your music scene was built on this.
